SET UP GOOGLE MY BUSINESS

What is Google My Business?

Well, you know when you google a local business and all this helpful information appears?

Well, that doesn’t happen by accident. You need to set that up with Google My Business.

Google My Business gives you the tools to create and update your listing, build a website, and engage with your customers from your phone, tablet or computer. Free.

There’s even an App for your mobile device to help you manage your business listing on Google.

For physical businesses, displaying your location in maps is SO important! Google My Business listing automatically adds your business to Google Maps.

However, this isn’t just for physical brick and mortar businesses, you can use Google My Business for virtual businesses too. I’m going to walk through setting up your Google My Business.

Click Get Started

Enter all the information about your business.

At the bottom, you have to check the box for “I deliver goods and services to my customers at their location” if you are a service-based business without a physical storefront. That way you can hide your physical address and still have a listing.

This would be for consultants, coaches, photographers and any other services based from an address you don’t want to be listed, like your home.

If you forget to check the box, you can edit it later in your profile.

The next step is verification. Google mails you a physical postcard to the address you have listed.

Once you receive the postcard, you enter the code in your profile and VOILA! You’re listed on Google search (and also maps for physical storefronts)!
