Facebook Ads for Beginners

Facebook Ads for Beginners

Have you been considering advertising your business on Facebook? Of course, who hasn’t? It’s the largest social media platform with billions of potential customers using it daily. Who wouldn’t want to reach those buyers!

But you’re not sure where to start. So, let’s talk about it. Let’s simplify it for you. That’s what we’re going to talk about here this month.

I’m breaking it down into 2 posts this month.

  1. Determine your ideal customer
  2. Plan your goal & Setup the Ad

Be sure to track your success with Facebook Ads Manager as you are spending on your ad.

Before you get started with step one here, do go back to my post about the Facebook Pixel and set it up on your website. Here are step-by-step instructions for you.

WHY YOU NEED THE FACEBOOK PIXEL ON YOUR WEBSITE:

  • Target people who have visited your website with your Facebook Ad
  • Serve ads to people who have viewed a specific page on your website or taken a specific action
  • Optimize your ad for conversions/leads/sales
  • Track your leads and sales
  • Analyze your website visitors and learn more about them such as other pages and brands they like on Facebook, so you can find more people similar to them

WHO IS YOUR IDEAL CUSTOMER?

It’s not enough to say ‘anyone’ is your ideal customer. That’s not true. When creating online ads, you want to be as specific as possible to TARGET your ideal buyer. You don’t want to pay for an ad that is being delivered to someone who would never buy your product or service.

Facebook lets you get very specific about your ad targeting, so think about and work through some questions before you begin creating your ad.

  1. Are they Male or Female?
  2. How old are they?
  3. Where do they live?
  4. What are their interests?
  5. Have they visited your website?
  6. Are they on your email list?
  7. Do they have children?
  8. Do they like the Ellen show, or are an Oprah fan?
  9. What do they like to watch or listen to in their free time?

Write down everything you can think of about your ideal customer.

There you go, that is your big assignment for today! Next week we’re going to think about your offer… how are you going to get that customer to click through and buy when they see your ad?
